Alright #LawlessRides folx, first phase celebratory #drink secured—with #photo #proof and #poutine to boot!

Now for the WestJet #story from last time, when I was denied boarding to Canada because I’m #Canadian while Air Canada and CIC had zero issues in the same situation today.
Background info: about 5 years ago or so, Canada decided it wanted Canadian dual nationals to travel on Canadian #passports and not any other nationality. Debatable in principle, but in practice on every other airline than WestJet it doesn’t mean much.
At worst, you just have to travel with proof you are also Canadian and spend an extra minute or two explaining it to CIC on arrival. But where CIC and every other airline is reasonable about it, WestJet decided they could deny me and plenty of others boarding for being Canadian.
Demanding a “special authorization” from CIC to travel as a Canadian dual national before allowing you to check in, even though CIC doesn’t care one whit about that on arrival. And refusing any reimbursement or compensation as well!
The poor bastard in line next to me in #paris last time had been stuck there for a week because WestJet had denied him boarding to his own country. Damn good thing I didn’t start #LawlessRides back then, or else my liver might not have survived!
