Have you just made the #Twexit or the #TwitterMigration? Keep in mind, things aren't exactly the same as on #Twitter!

1. Favorites ⭐ - they're not "likes". They don't help posts, they just let the Mastodon member who posted know you thought it was cool!

2. Boosts 🔁 - these push someone's post into your friends feeds!

So if you ⭐ my posts, that's great (and I love you too)!

But if you boost 🔁 posts, then more people see them!

@jerrylevine do comments work differently too?
@Jacques @jerrylevine they're sorted by date and not likes (or whatever black magic twitter is using) - but other than that, it's the same afaik. On Mastodon at least. I don't know how other services handle it.
@Riedler @Jacques @jerrylevine so basically like tweetdeck...i never saw the algorithm thing on twitter because i use tweetdeck the whole time
@jerrylevine yeah, I've noticed the ratio of boosts to likes here is gt 1, whereas retweets to likes on twitter is usually lt 1, unless they're quote tweets and someone's post is being ratiod.
@jerrylevine IIRC that’s how Twitter used to work a good few years ago isn’t it?
@jerrylevine I think #twexit is my new favourite word.
@jerrylevine
I feel like a semi expert already thanks!
@jerrylevine They should rename Favorite to Nice, with a certain face as the image.
@jerrylevine That's helpful - thank you. Not totally sure I understand it all yet - but I've only been here for a few minutes.
@jerrylevine And you have been here since ... October 26th. Old hand, are you? Smiling, not bashing.
@jerrylevine Easy to understand and useful tips. Thanks Jerry 👏
@jerrylevine
Did both to your post. Thanks for the advices!

@jerrylevine That "Boost" vs. "Favorite" thing is the one biggy that will trip most newcomers, it sure did for me.

I LOVE the editing feature and the Delete and Edit features. So incredibly nice!!!! There's really a lot to like over here.
