One of the things I'm enjoying here is that I can drink from different hoses based upon my time and mood.

I can drink from the sink of Home to see people I'm following.

I can drink from the garden hose with the Local timeline and see content from #tabletop people. This reminds me of chatting at a convention - mostly gaming talk, but I also learn about other aspects of their lives.

If I want a firehose of who-knows-what, I open up the federated timeline for a blast of the #Mastodon world.

@scottnicholson Agreed!

I think I'd like more inter-instance features, such as: You can browse any instance timeline that you / your instance aren't blocked from. (I hear some apps allow this, but I haven't gotten it to work yet.) I want to drink from different garden hoses!

Maybe the solution is multiple accounts? Makes me wonder if there are apps designed to easily manage multiple accounts? (Maybe they all do and I'm just daft?) Maybe when I learn to use lists, they might help?

@keithjones I was thinking that as well - maybe there is an app/website that will log into multiple accounts and pluck the local stream from each account into a different column, or collect the locals from different accounts into one stream. I haven't looked yet, though, as I want to figure out the basics first.
@scottnicholson @keithjones You can paste or type the domain name (like mine, mastodon.nz) into a browser and click Local to see other ones.

@Appbeza

Okay, yeah I think was told that and forgot already, so thank you. 😄. Something about the way the domain comes up keeps making me think you need a login to access the domain at all.
