Might I suggest that Twitter refugees include their generalized location in bios? The process of reestablishing a network will result in making new connections and you may not always know someone's location.
More importantly, this place is far less American-centric than Twitter, and having to ID as American (if you are) might remind you that the US is not the entire world.

And hashtag your posts too.
@emptywheel Folksonomy is organic so just start your own. You have big enough a following to make something stick.
You can always change them or add more later if you come across something more appropriate.

@emptywheel wait sorry I just tried it and looks like bio isn't searchable 🥲 at least not on my server. I've seen ppl adding hashtags in bio so I assumed it's searchable.
Probably still helps telling ppl who you are tho. Fwiw I've also seen ppl use #politics #law #lawfedi in their bios.
