Wish list item: I wish Mastodon supported inbound RSS. Then we could just use RSS to hook the two worlds up. Bridges are good things. 😀
@davew check out this thread for related rss feed, activity pub stuff.. https://friend.camp/@darius/109304317556849251

It lets people with a login on your Mastodon or Hometown server create ActivityPub accounts that are mirrors of RSS feeds (process pictured in attachments). ONLY people with a login to your server can use it, because you don't want to moderate this service for randos https://github.com/dariusk/rss-to-activitypub *easy for linux server administration, huge lmao

@davew Hmm, beg to differ. I don’t think Mastodon needs more bots and auto posting. I’d prefer to follow users that selectively and thoughtfully share links with quotes or commentary. And who are therefore actively present to participate in ensuing threads and discussions.

That’s why Mastodon accounts that automatically crosspost from Twitter fall flat.

@bewildergeist — it’s a big world, you don’t have to follow feeds you don’t like. 😀

@davew Well that’s very true, of course 😄 I also like that Mastodon has a Boolean `bot` property on accounts so they can be clearly marked in the UI as bots:
