Yes alot of servers are experiencing delays. But it seems to be better at the moment.
You have a large following on twitter so when you join and promoted Mastodon, you likely brought a lot of users to the platform.
Which is a very good thing! But your server's admin is probably working on adding more capacity to accommodate the new users you have brought over š
