Help please. On the bird site, I would often share tweets by sending them as a text which were immediately visible to others. Can I do that here? How do I do that here?
@SeasonedAcademic
There's no exact equivalent of twitter sharing, but 'boosting' is similar, it sends the toot to your followers. If I understand the question...
@SeasonedAcademic Not sure what you mean by a text?
@DrBrainNerd I would click the "up arrow" at the bottom right of a tweet, and that gave me the option to send the tweet to a friend via iMessage or text where they could see the tweet without having to be on the app.
@SeasonedAcademic: I understand because I did the same. In the bird site, I would click the three dots for "more" and one of the "more" was "copy link to this [bird noise]". The resulting link could be pasted into iMessage, for example, and the recipient could view the individual bird noise even if not a bird site user. I think if you view the Mastodon post in the web as an individual post, you can copy the URL. Needs a more elegant way,
@SeasonedAcademic Just hit the share button at the bottom right of the post?
@JustJen For me that works for sharing on the site. On the bird app, I used to send tweets to friends via text...
@SeasonedAcademic Hmm for me it opens options for sharing and text is one of them. I shared your post with myself and it worked. Curious …
@JustJen I can do that but it only shows a link to the toot, not the toot itself. On bird app, at least when i sent iMessage, friends could see the whole tweet.
