Eg: “Obligatory #introduction post. #Cat photo to make it not totally suck”‘maybe toss #CatsOfMastodon in your bio and #Software and so forth. There’s no algorithm here. It’s all self curated. You have to seek and be sought like in the early days of Twitter. Also there’s no searching for terms only hashtags. :) You’ll get used to it.

@CautionWIP Actually, this is exactly how I used twitter (and I used tweet-deck, so the interface is almost identical, too). I don't post for a large audience; I post for my friends. So I tend not to use hashtags, because I'm not here to entertain the masses. But I have lists, and I have columns for specific hashtags, sometimes, if I'm interested. What I'm saying is, there's no real learning curve for me... I just use it differently than you probably do.
