Good morning, fellow refugees. How goes the big wait? Is America finally going to be safe for fascism? I don't know how you're holding up, but focusing on this reinventing of social media is all the keeps me from shaking to pieces from all this stress. I'm still a mess. And really angry it's come to this.
@shoq GM to you too! Strange day indeed, knowing our lives hang in the balance. Hard to digest only 21% of population can control the Country by controlling the Senate when those potentially taking control are domestic terrorists!
@shoq I'm poll monitoring this week. It's what I do to feel like I'm doing something. And also means I'm not completely dependent on the news to know how the election is going, because I can see it myself.
@cathygellis @shoq Me too. I did it for early voting too. Fwiw, I live in a county whose Republican SOE is super committed to assuring that absolutely everyone votes, so it's not a hard job here. I've watched poll workers bend over backwards to help confused clueless noobs vote. It gives me faith in my neighbors.
@keikioaina @shoq I too have seem some hard core Republicans who were long-time precinct leaders go to the mat to get people their ballots. What their party has done is such an affront disservice to their actual patriotism.
@cathygellis @keikioaina @shoq I'm going a step further and serving as a poll inspector for the city/county. I started after doing some election protection phone banking for a party when I realized I didn't fully understand how polls work. Stepping up in this town gives me enormous confidence in our electoral process.
@longobord @cathygellis @shoq I know, right? At the local level, at least where I live (R+5 Florida gulf coast), the local election people seem committed to pulling as many people in to vote as they can, given DeathSantis's laws and rules.
@cathygellis @shoq If I may ask...What are you seeing?
@PurpleSky @shoq TBH I haven't started yet this time around. But I usually don't see very much, because things usually go pretty well. Issues tend to arise re: ID requirements, especially if address changes, or address changes generally. Also if Internet connection goes down, which slows check-in. And signage. And now some complexity with mail ballots. But early voting has taken a lot of pressure off of election day, so fewer issues with long waits now. (And all varies state to state).
@cathygellis
Ahhh...Got it! Thank you! Wasn't sure if you were already witness to hearing or seeing any inside trends! Thank you for taking your time and energy to helpimg ppl perform a most critical civic duty! Be safe!
@PurpleSky We'll see what happens tomorrow, but early voting does give a chance to kick the tires on things and adjust as needed before heading into Election Day.
@shoq also anxious. Hoping for the best as I hear some positive news on turnout so far, but expecting the worst.

@shoq I’m ok given that the election and Twit saga feels like watching the titanic sink in super-slo mo. I careen between despair and wild optimism.

I’m ready to dump Twitter for good once my interests follow.

What do people think about brands joining? That might be the needed critical mass.

@shoq I watched the clip of Bill Maher’s prediction for a Trump run in 2024 and it’s sounds so possible that it freaked me out. Even more anxious about Tuesday’s results now. Might really be the last fair elections.
@clairefromparis Bill Maher is the biggest waste of skin in politics today,. He had years to help do something about it. He just had parries. Fuck him
@shoq Found a new book to start yesterday, ā€œCigar, America’s Horse.ā€ Looks like it will hold my interest so I can put my iPad down and get through these next 48 hours. My ballot was mailed, received, and counted two weeks ago. Wish my anxiety about the election had subsided after completing that important task.😢
