I don't understand why there isn't an alternative version of Twitter that is as easy to use. The MAGA crowd managed to do this multiple times. But something with the complexity of Mastodon, Discord, etc. won't have mass appeal.

@shahed The alt-right Twitters are all niche silos that don't have Twitter's success as a destination social media for influencers. So I don't see any success, per se, there. Certainly nothing worth emulating

You get used to Mastodon after a day or so of kicking the tires. The learning curve is a good filter to disincentivize spammers and MAGA while newcomers get used to the culture.
