I always write/scribble with a pencil when possible rather than an ink-based device. Maybe it's a math-head thing – we have a fondness for pencils and chalk – I remember weeping silently when they removed the chalkboards from my classroom many years ago. 😢
I often wonder if my choice of pencil is the norm. Being a HB it's about as imaginative as a colour-coordinated shoelace. What's your weapon of choice?

Also, I can recommend Tomoe River paper for your note books, as it is impeccable with ink.
@PadraigMcl @Tupp_ed @markdennehy @runcertain alas they are absolutely rubbish taking fountain pen ink. It bleeds through and feathers like there's no tomorrow.
I'd recommend going for Rhodia - better paper but a similar price point and form factor.

The Berlin Notebook original blue is the most colour stable blue I have ever had.

And may I interest you in the works of Lamy pens? They have an excellent motto in German about thinking with your hand, which I deeply believe in.

They're not for me though, I find them difficult to use with my grip. I like narrower pens, with a shorter nib.

My current everyday favourite is a Pilot Namiki Falcon - the flexible nib allows for variation in the line width which I adore. Currently filled with Pilot Iroshizuku Ama-Iro ink.
My "outside the house" pen is a TWSBI Precision Gun Metal filled with J Herbin Violette Pensee.
And my most recent acquisition is a Noodler's Triple Tail - fascinating pen, but very wet and ink hungry - too much for a daily use.

@alisca @markdennehy @PadraigMcl @runcertain I only have 7 "proper" fountain pens, plus some dip pens of varying types and qualities. Reddit tells me that it makes it a small collection.
For all the other pens, pencils, arts and crafts and related stuff I have an Ikea Helmer drawer unit. It's full. There's stuff that doesn't fit in and is stashed all over in various boxes.
One day I will feature on an episode of hoarders.
