A lot of the "this feels like the Internet 20 years ago" is based on the still very niche, very exclusive character of this platform. That's not a complaint, it's good that Mastodon has this phase of playful exploration without having to carry the load of public discourse in any meaningful way.

But one should be aware of it when writing hagiographically about this magical place.

@tante ich gehe davon aus, dass sich die einzelnen Mastodon-Clients und -Metaversen mit der Zeit auseinanderentwickeln werden. Es wird die Klickibunti-Instanzen geben ebenso wie die übertechnisierten Ich-möchte-alles-selbst-einstellen-Instanzen. Wer Mastodon puristisch mag, wird das auch noch in zehn oder zwanzig Jahren so praktizieren können.
