@JSteed dang it, it looks like my search for #appellatetwitter shows only users either 1) on the same "instance" or 2) that I follow. Am I doing something wrong?

@dougthelawyer @JSteed You're not doing anything wrong. The way "search" works here is strange, especially to professionals who do advanced searches for a living. The search hits aren't limited to each server. But they do vary, depending on which server you search. (This seems to improve as servers are online longer.)

For wider searches, I've used the main web page for bigger servers (mastodon.online, mastodon.social, mstdn.social). Try more than one, as they can also return different results.
