Someone reminded me that I shouldn't find "people to follow" here. Instead, I should find people to *have conversations with.*

Unlearning 14 years of Twitter terminology and mindset isn't an overnight thing. But it's important to shift how I look at this space.

Because this space is special.

Yes, indeed.
To be extended perhaps that there are people that hold a conversation in just emoji, reactions, or very delayed responses. Which may
look like they are just "following" but are engaging as best they can and when they can.
It's not that ableism doesn't exist on the fediverse , but it's less common and what make this a nicer space than places where it's the default.
Let's be careful not to lose that

It's just my personal mission to have more meaningful conversations when I do choose to engage.
