Can’t emphasise enough how much the Mastodon experience is improved by choosing the right app to use it. The official Mastodon app is terrible with very limited functionality, making for a very isolated feeling from everyone and the wider communities. Metatext is waaaaay better and replicates the Twitter experience much more closely. Mastodon is actually enjoyable with this app.
I advise picking through a bunch of apps to see which one is more suitable for you before settling on one to use.

@gms369 I’m hearing positive things about Tusky, but I’m an iOS user myself so I can’t vouch for it personally.
@ejpcollins @gms369 I'm tooting from Tusky right now, it's pretty nice, has a tab view a bit like twitter, interface is pretty neat, I'd recommend it
@gms369 @ejpcollins I use Tuskey. I find it much easier that the Mastodon app
@gms369 @ejpcollins I use tusky on Android and it's great
@CaptainCornflake @gms369 @ejpcollins
I am using Tusky as well and it is much better than the stock app. That said, mastodon is pretty great in a mobile browser, too.
@gms369 @ejpcollins Yep. Tusky is the way to go on Android.
