I'm trying to cultivate a different feed on Mastodon than what I had on Twitter.

My Twitter was choked up with writers who spent most of their time tweeting about their new book, and posting pictures of their new book, and thanking people for buying their new book...

And that's fine, everyone needs to make a buck, but it turned my feed into one huge advert. In recent months I just stopped engaging altogether, because it didn't feel human anymore. It was all organic advertising.

@wickertongue I’ve seen far too many writers who do very little beyond constantly promoting their own book, and who never otherwise interact with anyone they follow. It feels bad to admit, but when I see the exact same short blurb and promo photo for the hundredth time, I start to lose interest in actually reading it.
