Here is a noob fan question, still being very confused.
Mastodon will update, great.
Now, is that one of the various instances? All of them? Mastodon.social?
I'm asking because for instance, I'm on mstdn.social - and I'm testing various apps on Android, one of which is called Mastodon, too.
Thanks

Welcome flow!
My understanding is that the Mastodon referenced in the original toot is the server software many of the servers are running on.

When each individual server, such as mastdn.social, is going to get the upgrade is up to each server's sysadmin.

The Mastodon Android app is the official app. Many others exist.

@flow @austinkocher @Gargron @Mastodon At a guess, it may initially deploy on the dot social instance, then be rolled out to the rest by the admins of each instance, so may take a few days to propagate across the Fediverse. I don't know whether it can be installed "live" or whether the instances have to temporarily go offline; or indeed whether the instances have test environments they deploy to first (so any conflicts between M version and their config can be ironed out before going live).
