So, in the light of what's happening right now... can we migrate out of commercial scientific journals into a free model? Please? ๐Ÿ™„
@HydrePrever for ecology folks there's a few great options including iForest, Webecology and Mires and Peat. All free to read and publish. All published by respected societies all with Impact Factors (if you care). Interested to hear other suggestions.
PCI Ecology

Peer Community in Ecology

@rmounce @HydrePrever interesting option. I have been known to have "views" on preprints though! ๐Ÿ˜œ

@fireregimes @HydrePrever PCI Ecology isn't just preprints though - the process can go through to the Peer Community Journal (if you wish, or other journals). Just making sure you were aware of that. It's not a preprint-only thing.

The Peer Community Journal is APC-free ($0), DOAJ-listed, and of course open access to all readers

(I'll shut up now ๐Ÿ™‚)

@rmounce @HydrePrever Excellent, thanks for clarifying that!
@HydrePrever it's happening slowly. And will happen more, the more grant givers prescribe them as the required mode of publication
