@falx @paulsummergrad for the most part that's correct. But the network is only "connected" insofar as people have followed other people on other servers. Servers don't automatically see each other until that happens for the first time.

And server admins can decide to reverse this process. For example, if a server full of nazis shows up, the admin can block them from federating.

@mstine @falx @paulsummergrad There's no automatic synchronisation across servers. That's a good thing. Would require huge bandwidth, for starters. Haven't had to deal with instances since my days as a DBA, and other cases where multiple instances of the same code/application !
