I get this feeling about Twitter too at the moment.

Tried Mastodon for a good while, didn't like it. Cohost looks fine, but the design looks aged. CounterSocial seems interesting but also a bit shady for some reason.

I do very much see it just as an era shift.

I've been through useNet, forums, twitter and now maybe that's ending and it'll likely be something federated like Mastodon.

Each has shades of the previous, but is its own era in its own way. It's just change. Change happens.

@garius I can't help but wonder if the Twitter exodus really just fragments social media.

If tech-friendly types go to Mastodon, right-friendly types go to Truth, old folks double down on Facebook, are there niches of refuge for all the different groups?

Twitter was an odd "right place, right time" thing for the overlap of lots of those communities.
