Okay, the more I look at Mastodon instances, I am very tempted to move mine to http://wandering.shop (if they'll have me).
The Wandering Shop

Wandering.Shop aims to have the vibe of a quality coffee shop at a busy SF&F Convention. Think tables of writers, fans and interested passers-by sharing drinks and conversation on a variety of topics.

Mastodon hosted on wandering.shop

Creators/Heavy interactors: This gives you a Mastodon view that looks more like Tweetdeck.

What I DO need to find is some way of making my Mastodon home page look like Tweetdeck.

🚨 Today I learned

Apparently the 'note' field at the bottom of someone's profile is private to you, & you can add a wee note to remind yourself about them

Such as the reason you first followed is b/c they collect mushrooms or love black garlic or something else not listed in their bio or otherwise obvious 😊

Or perhaps you unfollowed them b/c you love their stuff, but they post too frequently & you need to remind yourself not to get sucked in again 😡

Help your brain! πŸ’ͺ

We have a lot of really big, professional artists signing up on .art over the last few days, and it can be daunting posting your art here in the face of their work.

I want you to know that I'll still emphasise boosting art from small artists. This is a space for us to learn and grow and support each other, to motivate each other and to squash our impostor syndrome because it's a stinky lying liarpants.

(it's always tumbleweed.gif for those unfamiliar with having a thing go viral)
That fun bit where people ask you to write something for them and you get to say "sure, what's your rate?"

I do very much see it just as an era shift.

I've been through useNet, forums, twitter and now maybe that's ending and it'll likely be something federated like Mastodon.

Each has shades of the previous, but is its own era in its own way. It's just change. Change happens.

I get this feeling about Twitter too at the moment.

Tried Mastodon for a good while, didn't like it. Cohost looks fine, but the design looks aged. CounterSocial seems interesting but also a bit shady for some reason.

I guess this era of the internet might just be over. 🀷 https://twitter.com/garius/status/1588115310124539904

I suspect http://Mastodon.social is getting slammed.

I'm seeing new follows come through in batches.

@[email protected] I just followed you again from another instance but they're pending
