Can I ask a favour?

I'm really grateful to be recommended as a follow, but can you also mention the website (https://fedi.tips) when you do so?

At the moment getting a lot of questions which are answered on the site, and it's difficult to keep up with every question. I'm happy to keep answering, but also afraid I'll miss someone's question.

If they know about the site from the beginning, they will have a chance of finding the answers themselves if I do miss their question.

Thanks πŸ™

An unofficial guide to using Mastodon and the Fediverse

@feditips Did so on my twitter feed on twitter/mastodon differences. It might have been shadow banned though... :v
@feditips You’ll want to adjust your bio, because it’s inviting to contact you personally, and tell what people should do instead.

@feditips This is a brilliant resource, thanks for putting it together!
@feditips Definitely! This is a terrific resource. I’ll share this today.
@feditips hey I keep getting this error when I try to search for anything. Any tips? Thank you!

@1loafofmeat

I'm guessing it's just the server being busy right now? Try it again in a while?

This doesn't normally happen but with the number of people joining in the past few days the admins are having to upgrade their servers which takes time.

@feditips noted and will do! πŸ“
@feditips yep, I have a pinned tweet with your details and I changed it to ask people not to ask questions but to read the fedi tips site first...πŸ‘

@ElHadjiMurad

It is okay to ask questions! :)

I just would like people to know about the website as well, because then they have the option of looking stuff up themselves if they want to.

OMG, thank youuuu! 🀩

@feditips As a new arrival from Twitter, I found fedi.tips a big help, so thanks!
@feditips sorry I’ve been sending quite a few people your way. I’ll send them to the website instead first from now on.

@AutisticGoblin

Don't apologise, I greatly appreciate any kind of mention!

It is fine to send them to my account!

Just, if you could mention the site as well that would be perfect πŸ‘

@feditips and @stux is there a way to collect the helpful tips, websites, etc and send that to new users when they sign up? Or have a #welcometoot sent to them with this info?
@feditips
Thanks... bookmarked
@feditips Hey, good going! I'm new to Mastodon. What still seems missing to me is more WHAT: What topics are multiple experts discussing?
For example, Twitter is very convenient to access all progressive economic thinkers. What strong forums does Mdon offer? Any at all yet? Too early? πŸ€”
@BruceDickson different servers focus on different subjects, like special interest groups. There's isn't one index of all the activitypub compatible servers out there that I know of. So finding your server takes some discovery. It's like wandering in nature finding the watering holes where all the others meet.
@feditips youtube.com/playlist?list=PLzg… Here's a better understanding of the greater fediverse with 3 2-minute videos. You may not be a newby but this is a good explainer for newby's. I personally prefer friendica because I can interact with all the fediverse including diaspora where the G+ refugees went to, as well as the fact that I can filter twitter through it and purge out all the garbage.

@feditips That site still says you can’t edit a post.

Bur you can, since March, v3.5, I think. At least I can.

@feditips Lots of cogent content there that I wanted to know. Whomever writes it is very good at writing clear, structured, narrative. Thanks!
@feditips really helpful stuff, thank you!

@feditips Sorry, I didn't realize you were a person. I thought it was the webpage.

I am a bit lost on here. Will do!
