We are no #Twitter. And we do not wanna become the next Twitter..

Mastodon has proven that social media can be fun and safe without bullies!

Engage in discussions without being harassed. Respect for each other is important here. You don't have to agree with everyone ofc but talking about it is so much better than name-calling for example.

I think we can show the world that social media can also be a positive factor in life instead of stress and a dark shadow

Love you guys ❤️

@stux I couldn't agree more!

Let's all step up our game and do better than Twitter! 💪

@stux Hi Stux. There's lots of content in the #MuskyPlace I'd like to see here, news outlets, political, socially progressive, energy and climate view points for example. What's the best way to encourage that migration to Mastodon?

@The_Colbobs Hii there Col!   Very true my friend and I am working on the same

Currently im in contact with the Dutch gov to get them on Masto for example! Im planning on writing a lot more when they are on 💪

Maybe we could setup a little 'team' or something to try and get the 'big' fish over? 😇

@stux Yes! Excellent idea (some of the little fishes too)
@stux Yes, but also on Mastodon and the rest of the fediverse there are dark corners. Keep that in mind folks. Also on Mastodon there are fascists, but they are much better moderated. Main reason is that Twitter etc. financially thrive on conflict, but the non-commercial fediverse not. Also remind that servers can differ how they are moderated. Example: There are explicitly anti-fascist Mastodon servers, but also servers that don't moderate anything.
@joenepraat @stux *Technically* gab.com is on the fediverse, but it's been mostly walled off.
@MsMouse @stux I thought they were even completely disconnected now, after almost everyone blocked them.

@joenepraat @MsMouse Yeah, they don't federate anymore since a while now 💪

At some point they litterary broke federation and said it was a 'feature' hahaha

@stux I want to believe 😭
@stux It was an easy decision to make - I’m hanging here!
@stux Exactly. I like to exchange arguments. Maybe learn something from the ones of someone else and maybe someone else learns something of mine. Where it goes wrong is when people feel the urge to convince others. In my family we refrain from that part. So we have good discussions but we can never get into a family row, like heard that families do e.g. about corona.
@stux I'm really enjoying this platform! Shame I didn't know sooner. 🤔 😀 😍
@stux I honestly can't believe the number of Companies & CEOs on Twitter who spend most of their time calling people names, it's unbelievable.
@stux **less** bullies. People are the same no matter what social network we are on. There's no tech solution for that. The bullies are here.
@stux First and foremost, Mastodon is a lonely place. It is f***ed up to see other members doing the exact opposite on Twitter.
@stux #TwitterRefugee here. Hoping to find a place that does doesn't monetize controversy. Hoping it's a kinder place here.
@KneesAndToes Welcome to the community!   I think you're in the right place!
@stux I love that about Mastodon.
@stux That sentiment is exactly why I'm excited to be here.
@stux yea most dark aspects of social media is due to algorithms artificially amplifying posts seen as controversial, because the aim is engagement at all costs for profit
I just had a thought. I came to the fediverse, not so much Mastodon itself, because Google Plus sunset and was switched off. Then another world opened, and many people were in that same situation, then regrouped this way or that across pods and platforms.

If you're #newhere and Mastodon is the first step into the fediverse, you're in for so much more once you are ready to take it there. We'll be there to help!
@stux I think the folks from the multiple Black-run instances that've been driven off the fedi from persistent harassment and racism would disagree heartily with the sunshines and roses attitude here. Don't get me wrong, Twitter is awful, but Mastodon has serious racism and anti-blackness problems.
@stux I love it already. I feel like I can breathe here. Thank you.
@stux I’ve just joined and it feels safer than Twitter. I’ve already found some interesting professional people to engage with in my area of expertise.
@stux It’s a great place, but the notion of it being a safe haven full of polite, friendly people is a stretch. Eventually, people may learn to mute or block people who “bully” them instead of running.
@stux would be really useful for people to list their former twitter handle and to have a way to find people you followed on twitter. If if it meant just authorising Mastadon to have access to a twitter account and doing the finding that way.
@ohmz There's a helper for that: fedifinder.glitch.me/

@stux yesssss LOVING the platform so far ... and sometimes 280 characters is not enough to express me, 500 is plenty (so far)

EVERYONE who knows me, knws I **LOVE** to talk (and I can get a bit NSFW at times)

@stux thank you🙏☺️I am here because I am tired of blocking all the personal abuse. So I am hoping for a friendly community✌️
@stux This is a great perspective and attitude. I have embraced this as well. If we can have civil discussions with reasonable individuals who hold dissenting opinions IRL, surely we can do it under the veil of anonymity. Of course, it requires a degree of self-moderation and a willingness to accept the rules of civil engagement.
@stux Congrats to 3 years today!
@stux I know this is not twitter and I'm trying to learn this system. I really wish the internet was decentralized as well, but it's good that there are places on the internet that is decentralized. Thanks.
@stux reading and comprehending English usage, context and usage is difficult for people. I would like to see this space remain safe and fun; but let's be clear. Comments are easily misinterpreted regularly. Also, the forces of fear, lies, and hate, (basically religion for many) will find its way among us. Hopefully we'll respond in a fair, effective, and socially responsible way. Afterall, we're only human.
