Finally making a toot unique to Mastodon again. Everything for a long while has been crossposts from Twitter, but I definitely still believe Mastodon is gonna be the Twitter lifeboat.

Positive? Fun? Jovial? I like it. Looking into getting into another instance than this one right now.

@Thygoddess It certainly has a bunch of unique functionalities, but at it's core it's a place where you can post a relatively short status update, so it's easy to compare to Twitter. Honestly, everything else about it is everything that Twitter should have been doing. Having separate instances with people moderating each those instances and the ability to block whole instances is REALLY good.

@MarzGurl I get your point but it still feels more like a forum to me.

But regarding the hellsite... Deep capitalism is stopping it from being a friendly place. Greed brings attempts to keep everything and everyone centralized. Greed keeps the code hidden and greed will stop meaningful attempts of moderation, as monsters are huge potential customers.

Twitter ending up in the hands of a deluded billionaire is a fitting end for it.

@Thygoddess I feel like it's not gonna feel like a forum to me unless I can scroll through different topics and then see people in one singular thread having one long ongoing discussion about that topic. In that sense, toots still feel like tweets, and threads still feel like Twitter threads.

But I definitely agree that the worst people with the most money are the ones doing the most damage to Twitter. That's what greed'll do for sure.
