Why is tungsten carbide the official metal of gay mens' rings?
@aphyr probably because a lot of people want to break with the old wedding traditions, and carbide is a really good alternative for a ring that gets worn and abused every day
@aphyr carbine, like most gay men, can take a serious pounding
@aphyr it’s hard AF (…boys 😉 ) so it lasts forever (… boys 🤤), and it’s a lot more comfortable than stainless because it doesn’t seem to transfer heat as enthusiastically.
I think there’s maybe also a macho element, wearing a ring made of the same stuff as drill bits and other manly tools.
