Good fun to be had here. Granted, some of the material you can spot coming a mile away, but it’s still rewarding anyway. I would like to see these two do something more together.

I’m all for a comedic action super-person film! This one does take a bit to get going, but there’s a fair bit of world-building to be done, so it’s understandable.

I would be willing to watch a follow-up to this, and believe that there’s much to be explored in this world. So, bring on the sequel here! Some of the material in that film would be predicable — those trusted would betray that trust — but it would still be worthwhile!

Good.

Bruce Lee meets “Romeo & Juliet” meets Blaxploitation meets Vancouver Tourist Board. Horrible Black stereotypes piled on horrible Asian stereotypes with a sprinkling of ‘sweet girl with a heart of gold.’ Also ‘Good Son® doing the Right Thing™ no matter how Very Hard© it can be.’

A product of its time, it has A LOT of music cues. Plus ‘wire-fu.’

“Hey, look! It’s Alvin Sanders! He’s… oh… never mind…”

I feel obligated to mention a couple of really good scenes which stood out, both featuring Jet Li and Henry O as son and father, respectively. The dialogue is well written, and they both find all kinds of levels and notes to play realistically. Some excellent work there.
Kevin Hart has a reputation for being a crazy, over-the-top comedic actor. Here, he proves that he has the chops to put in a top-notch dramatic role. All sorts of supporting characters are also great.

Highly recommended.

An incredible amount of effort has gone into the creation of this five-part series of episodes providing context to the events of which everyone is all too aware.

Wonderful film about an exceedingly frustrating period immediately prior to the start of WWII. Solid performances throughout examining the people involved, but a plot we already know the outcome of.

Worthwhile.

Fascinating account of how a man defected to the UK after having been an agent in the KGB working for MI5 for quite some time. So many questions of other events are answered here.

Very highly recommended.

#TwilightZone S4Ep06 is ‘does what it says on the tin’ story of an exploratory space mission discovering another ship. It crashed, killing all three crewmen: themselves! What’s reality? What’s illusion? WHO CAN TELL‽

It could have been a 30 minute episode, but the extra time feels okay, even with slow pacing and repeated lines of dialogue. Hmmm… maybe that dialogue is a clue to the audience…?

Recommended.

Good fun to be had here. Vampire hunting, respect for the historical rules, regular nods to more current iterations, and comedy. Also, Snoop Dog channeling Eastwood’s ‘man with no name.’

The ending arrives, rather than building to a climax, but it’s a long enough film as it is.

Really good.

I remember the panic and fear far more than the details. Having them in one place and in a proper order is… well, it sure is something.

#TwilightZone S4Ep07 is a story as old as time: nonconsensual love via majik, using monogamy as the only relationship structure. What does the spell cost? ‘TOO MUCH!’ is the inevitable answer.

Story of chemical which releases whatever power is genetically buried within that person. Is the risk involved worth the benefit?

Solid action thriller with SF elements.

Noir. Heist. Thriller. Danny DeVito. Sam Rockwell. Gene Hackman. Delroy Lindo. Musical Score just like Jerry Goldsmith’s for “L.A. Confidential.”
More twists than taffy. A script that’s clearly by David — I mean clearly by David Mamet.
David Mamet clearly wrote the script and directed the script.
He did! David Mamet!
Highly recommended.

#STEnterprise S1Ep01 gets the show off to a strong start. Lots of firsts here and oodles of excellent world-building on the foundations of earlier generations.

#STEnterprise S1Ep03 + S1Ep04 are a mixed bag. 3 is a messy plot about people learning to communicate, including with themselves. 4 involves an hallucinogen messing with morale and interpersonal relations; as well as preconceived notions and biases.

Both episodes ★★★☆☆

The subtlety of the metaphors in these episodes wasn’t lost on me, either. The ‘mind meld’ as non-consensual sex, the denial of wrong-doing, and the calm façade over angry turmoil in the first episode, for instance. Likewise, the second’s ‘respect for tradition’ while caring for the oppressed recalls several scenarios, including South Africa’s policy of apartheid. The third episode, while hardly subtle, proves that simple aspiration can be met, so it is best to aspire to greater things.

#STEnterprise bounces back up a tad.

S1Ep20 is the question of ‘whose rights or interests are supreme?’

S1Ep21 is a parallel to WWII’s Internment Camps in North America

S1Ep22 is the story of a tennis net trying to get home.
