@frankie The goal is to customize it so it looks nice, and is unique. Then you can bring it to lowrider car meets. #Cars
@frankie There can be music there, and lowriders will often try to "bounce with the beat." That's why they do that jumping thing.
@frankie It can be bad for the car, though, if the bumper crashes down on the ground, so you have to be careful.
I can't believe how immoral that is. These BMW owners *buy* these cars (the cars are theirs, they own them), and then greedy BMW finds a way to siphon off even more money from them, and since it's a subscription service, they'll never stop paying for it.
What's worse is that they're not actually getting anything for paying that $18 a month. *BMW* is taking something away, then charging for it.
Before we had these "internet of things" devices / products (#IOT), it would've been impossible to do what they're doing. But because corporations are so greedy, they abuse the power the internet gives them. They use it to take people's money.
If you're going to take my money, corporations, you at least have to give me something for it. You can't charge me for things I already own... Even so, that's what they're doing. 🤦‍♀️
@frankie Good morning! 💌🤍
@futureisfoss And good morning to you as well. #GoodMorningClub
@lydiaconwell If you somehow existed without ever having met or seen anyone else, how would that make you feel? #ThoughtOfTheDay
Will you two post a thought of the day and tag it with the hashtag? 🙏

*still scratching head*
*gets a little nervous* 😬
@futureisfoss Let's see... um...
@futureisfoss What's the last thing you were thinking about a lot?
@thebiologist1117 I just finished watching the last episode of that 911 podcast you recommended me, lol. And it was very funny 😄
@futureisfoss Oh yeah, that one is excellent!
@futureisfoss The Operator and Luna play off of each other so well, I always like to hear what they think of stuff.
@thebiologist1117 They first talked about the war and all which had nothing to do with the call, and he kept teasing the other guy for it, haha 😄
@futureisfoss They have other podcasts, too, like Dark Topic: https://www.1159media.com/dark-topic

@futureisfoss Well, even more to warm your earballs with!
@thebiologist1117 I like podcasts because it means I can rest my eyeballs 😇

@thebiologist1117 Yes I like educational ones, thanks Em 🥰
@futureisfoss Trade ruins everything because... things are made, even if they don't need to be, and their quality is usually a lot worse because of it. My stepfather told me that entire cities are built on landfills of garbage sometimes. #TradeRuinsEverything

@thebiologist1117 Yes Em, things are made even if we don't need them, simply for trading them. And if we make good quality lasting products then you can't trade much with it, this is where planned obsolescence comes from. And in order to make these useless goods we also make people work, and in a trade based society everyone is forced to work in order so survive, and it doesn't matter if what they're doing is useful or not.

@futureisfoss #Rokosun, did you know that there is more garbage in one city than all of our messages combined?
@futureisfoss I don't think we even know what to do with the garbage... the same way we don't know what to do about climate change...

@thebiologist1117
https://www.videoneat.com/documentaries/21904/welcome-to-sodom/

I believe this was the first documentary I saw on videoneat, its about this place in Ghana called Sodom, and I believe its the biggest electronic waste dump in the world. And there are people living there who make money from this waste.

Welcome to Sodom

Hundreds of thousands of mobile phones, LCD TVs, notebooks and the likes become useless and "out" relatively soon and end up in Ghana where children and adolescents dismantle them in toxic smoke. A "clean" business for some, a poisonous routine for others.

VideoNeat

@thebiologist1117 And do you know what the most fucked up thing is? I don't remember where I read this from, but on a different website where they had a comment section under this documentary, someone said something like "Even though this documentary raises concerns about waste, if we don't produce this much waste then people in sodom can't live because they'll have no money" - I think this statement describes the true evil side of our trade-based society.

@thebiologist1117
I just realized that this place is actually called "Agbogbloshie", here is an article about it - https://www.theguardian.com/environment/gallery/2014/feb/27/agbogbloshie-worlds-largest-e-waste-dump-in-pictures
Agbogbloshie: the world's largest e-waste dump – in pictures

Photographer Kevin McElvaney documents a former wetland in Ghana which is home to the world’s largest e-waste dumping site, and where most of the the boys and men who smash devices to get to the metals end up dying from cancer in their 20s
