Pau¹l@jensu yes, I may be a killjoy (got that word from deepl), but I think you rather hate work. Even in communism, you would have to work, with the difference that there is no one else profiting of your work, except you and maybe society. But yeah maybe that will make work nicer...
jensu@ulPa Well, I never talked about communism though, it's not binary. I love working on my allotment, and I don't mind doing community work, but 'working' by doing stupid office things for a company that ultimately makes money from me doing that? Or, for that matter, actually producing things so that said company can make money by paying me way less than my work is worth? Yeah, that is capitalism, and I don't want that.
@jensu I'm curious, what other options are there between "means of production are privately owned" and "means of production are publicly owned" I mean you could do "some are publicly owned, some are private" and then you could have them either managed by the government or by the workers, but the work always has to be done, it only changes who profits from it how much.
@ulPa I would argue that there is very much 'work' that doesn't need to be done at all, be it private or public. But there are many levels of ownership between today's conglomerations and absolute state ownership, and I think a mix of these would be ideal.
@jensu I think these jobs are called "bullshit jobs" [1]. State ownership makes sense for natural monopolies, like train traffic or water supply. For other products I think I would prefer coops because I feel like a free market makes sense there. I also like the idea of an unconditional basic income to not fully depend on your work.

@ulPa Well, we seem to agree on a lot of things then – I would add health care and schools to the list of things that ought to be publicly owned, or at least heavily regulated.
The WP article was kinda vague, but all forms of communicators, marketers, motivators, middle managers and the like should just be axed – and yes, they would benefit from the basic income system that we both want 😊
