Somebody gave Mastodon's official iOS app a 1-star review on the App Store because "there are too many Taiwan independence" [sic, translation]. That's a first! Also, Taiwan is a country.
@Gargron there are too many countries, 1 star
@Gargron I am writing a 5 stars review to compensate. The app is awesome!
@Gargron Yeah, I hate my Firefox browser, there';s too much bad news on it all the time! 😁
@Gargron I live happily in Taiwan for over 13 years, This review just shows what a great platform Mastodon is
@Gargron official app is pretty. Weird login issues over Tor though.
@Gargron I am giving Signal a 1-star-review. My boss fired me via Signal /s
@Gargron I came from China (also agreeing Taiwan is a country) and got used to and tired of such so called Chinese patriots (we call them pinky) spamming every service with such negative review bomb. On the flip side it's also an indication that Mastodon's growing popularity that those who grew under such severe censorship also learned about and have access to at least some Mastodon instance though.
@Gargron Couldn't resist posting this map

@Lucseleventje @Gargron Hmmm This map is somewhat off. I just can't put my finger on it...

NOW I know: Hong Kong is not part of the UK anymore! Get your research right, mate!

@Gargron Sooner or later any domain that contains "mastodon" or looks masto-ish will be blocked by china. Theoretically, a decentralized network cannot be blocked, but realistically, there are only limited number of servers running. As for now, mastodon.social and several major chinese-speaking servers are already blocked. Any publicity of fediverse in china, positive or not, will only make the complete block happen sooner.

@Gargron @sapoverde I wasn’t aware that mastodon.social was already blocked by the great firewall. At least mastodon.online[^1] and many other instances are still allowed through.

If an instance gets blocked and the admin moves it to a new domain, will all other instances in the federation be made aware of this domain change? Would it be transparent to users, if this is possible at all?

@Gargron It is indeed a country! BTW, Republic of China(now Taiwan) is the only legitimate China.
@Gargron I support you. Of course Taiwan is a country.I’m so proud of them, also envy them.
@Gargron I'm Chinese. And I think you're right. CCP is acting like a violent ex-husband who claims Taiwan is still his wife and he's gonna kill her if she dates anyone.
@Gargron Yes, Taiwan IS a country.
@Gargron I'm Chinese.I agree.Of course Taiwan is a country.
@Gargron LMAO they are such insecure bitches just like their Winnie the Pooh emperor
@Gargron I'm Chinese, Taiwan is totally a country
@Gargron There is nothing wrong. Taiwan is a country. No one wants to be in a country ruled by CCP without democracy.
@Gargron Some different ideas. Wales is also a country, England is also a country, while they are also part of the UK. Although "国家" may be a sensitive word in Chinese (at least CCP thinks it is), the word "country" seems not in the English world. I don't think it's necessary to say "Taiwan is a country" every day just because CCP doesn't like it.

I totally agree ROC has its own government and people live well there (ROC not only rules Taiwan but also some small islands belonging to Fujian, which is always ignored), and I oppose Mainland's invasion if it happens. However, I still hope one day Mainland of China and Taiwan can stop the conflict and reunite into a new, democratic, complete China, as we share the same nation, same culture, and same language. Nowadays, Taiwan spent $11597 million every year on military expenditure to deal with threats from the Mainland.

After seeing the disunity in the EU, I think a unit big country is a good choice, before all countries and governments disappear.
@Gargron Don't pay attention to these poor bastards, they are severely brainwashed by the CCP's hatred education. I am Chinese and I am sure that Taiwan is a completely independent and different country, the CCP is a Nazi party, the farther away everyone is from them, the better!
@Gargron
That's weird, in that, one cannot even understand what they mean.
Is there a way to reply to that and inquire further?
@Gargron Taiwan is and should always be an independent country. Shame on all of my compatriots from PRC who buy into the official propaganda and support PRC's chauvinistic ideology of "one-china". Wish Xi Jinping die immediately and miserably.

@Gargron LOL? xD It's like "reviewing" the Netherlands negatively, cause, "they are too many gays there" xD LOOOOOOOL xD

BTW, do you review countries? 🤔 Can I give Poland 1-star? 🤔

@Gargron AGREE. Taiwan is a sovereign and independent country, no doubt~!
@Gargron That’s a real
Chinese stance. The answer is to
connect with all the exiled Falun Dafa in America and get really meaningful 4 star reviews.
@Gargron Of course Taiwan is a country.And please note China is part of Taiwan !
