Can we get #privacy trending?

Just tell us why you care about your privacy and what you're doing to protect it.

@StartpageSearch People always say "I've got nothing to hide". But in my opinion, that's not the point. Companies that collect tons of data, even if it's just meta data, can know sooo much about their users... and there are so many easy things that you can do to start with protecting your #privacy.

I selfhost most of the stuff that i use, for example #Nextcloud for files, calendar and contacts, #Homeassistant for my Smart Home und #gitlab for my source code and #matrix for my instant messaging

@jannis @StartpageSearch
Why do you prefer #gitlab over #onedev ? For me it seems that gitlab is too heavy for projects of single developer
@barser @StartpageSearch I guess it's as simple as I didn't know that it existed 😂
@jannis @StartpageSearch do you know, why I can not connect to a server of #nextcloud ? 🤔
@Jorge_Irraizoz @StartpageSearch what do you mean with "cannot connect"? Do you mean from mastodon? Or signup? Please be a little bit more precise :)
@Jorge_Irraizoz @StartpageSearch well I guess most instances of nextcloud are not public :) you can either host one yourself or you have to find someone that is public (which is mostly paid, but 2gb free I think). Check here https://nextcloud.com/providers/ under private use :)

@jannis @StartpageSearch I'm waiting for someone to give me the "I've got nothing to hide" argument - i have a whole slew of responses starting with "Great, can I have the login to your bank account please?" #privacy

@jannis @StartpageSearch

People who say, "I've got nothing to hide," are liars.
