@dansup how come AP servers don't do any kind of social graph analysis to make discovery recommendations? IRL FoaF is a really good indicator that you might get along with someone.

@xjix @dansup yeah but that's exactly the problem, it's optionally public so it's not dependable. it would be better to have something explicitly signalled, kind of like featured profiles but without the implicit endorsement?

@trwnh @dansup eh it doesn't have to be that reliable. esp if people are disabling that info for privacy reasons. you wouldn't want to rec them anyway.

I tend to mostly raise my voice to highlight the few details that bother me, but this website (and the directory in particular) is a very nice addition to the fediverse !

@dansup Or pixelfed could join to Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey and Peertube in having opened directory api that can be easilly indexed by services like #fedisearch 🔎

I've just tried to add my profile to the "explore", but Mastodon limits the length of the description field and I can't even add "#fedi2022" there 🤷‍♂️
So I'd say it'be good to have an alternative way to do that.
