A little in love with my new entirely silent setup. The Streacom DB4 case with dual heat pipes keeps the Ryzen 5700g GPU chugging along at ~55°C during normal usage and ~75°C is the max I’ve seen it under full load (while compiling stuff with all cores firing at ~100%).
Note: those temperatures are with the cover on :)
@aral the pillar is neat!
@alexmorse Hehe, thanks. I thought it deserved a Doric column :)
@aral What’s the ambient temperature like? Looks amazingly neat! Wonder how it would fare during Greek summer.
@heracles I don’t have a thermometer in the room at the moment but it’s likely in the low 20s :)
@aral that looks really nice 🤩 How evenly is the heat spread across the case? It looks like the heat pipes are only attached to one side.
@jokke They’re attached to two sides but it’s not easy to see from the photos (I got the additional set). The outside has rarely been above lukewarm to touch. Usually not even that.
@aral is the entire case one big heat sink? 😮
@aral Is that fully passive cooling?

@alexmorse Sure is :)

Absolute quiet… aah! :)

@aral that’s a neat build. No GPU though?

@doc I don’t really need one for what I do. The Ryzen 5700g is smooth as butter for my needs :)

(And any card I could fit in there with the thermal requirements would only be a minor step up from the integrated graphics if I was to play a first-person shooter, etc.)

@aral I’ll have to check it out. I was wondering about putting a beefy graphics card in for video editing on Linux, since I’m falling out of love with Apple.
@doc You can definitely set up a beefy NLE (cool kids still call it that these days?) on Linux. One of the best supported use cases. Great apps.
@aral That is definitely a nice build. But what is that expansion card doing facing downwards in the case? I guess the PSU also has the same orientation. All cables go in from under?
@aral Take THAT, trash can Mac Pro!
@aral That is very compact...
