Hillexed@dustobscured hey! how do NIRCam and MIRI keep track of all their cables? How did the builders route them and keep them together and make sure the wires would still work in cold temperatures?
@hillexed I am unfortunately not an engineer, so I'm not sure of the details but I know that the wiring is complicated! MIRI & NIRCam are now part of the Integrated Science Instrument Module (ISIM) that sits behind the primary mirror & wires connect the ISIM to other systems like power. Some of those systems are on the warm side of the telescope, so the wires need to be able to take hot and cold temps and the wire materials are CAREFULLY selected to withstand the extremes! #JWST
