My Way of Recommending Free Software Messengers to Others

Sharing is very appreciated.

I respect their choices without questioning nor challenging them.

❤️ Use #FreeSoftware messenger that you need or works for you.

🌻 I am not forceful in inviting others to one decentralized or not.

I support all #LibreSoftware licensed #messengers and I prioritize ones which support #GNU+#Linux over ones which do not.

My Messenger Recommendation

Teaching with Free Software

@ademalsasa You should probably take the following points into account as well:

- Does it have end to end encryption?
- Is the server platform FOSS as well?
- Is the client using non FOSS libraries? (signal has some AFAIK)
- Do you need to buy a donor SIM card for signup, as signup is impossible without a phone number?

@ademalsasa I wouldn't recommend Telegram (centralized, closed source backend) or Signal (centralized, practically closed source front and back) if talking about free software. Both are of course better than WhatsApp though.

Clients come and go, backend is the most important component of any messenger in long term.
