My husband and I are definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed. We bought two chili pepper plants, a Carolina reaper and a Moruga scorpion and, after repotting them both, we didn't put back their name tags. So right now a plant has started ripening its fruits and we don't know which one is it. To me it looks more like a Moruga, but I've never seen one in person.
What do you say Fediverse?

@absinthe based on pictures and descriptions, I'd say this is the #MorugaScorpion, as it doesn't seem to have the distinctive tail that gave the #CarolinaReaper its name? @plants
@FiXato yup, I think so too! Thank you
@absinthe @plants Oh dear, but welcome to the club! 😅
I looked it up to be sure, but yeah, those two are really hard to tell apart. Best chance is once both plants have developed pods.
In theory the Carolina Reaper pods should have more tail and a rougher, more wrinkled texture.
I totally failed to tell some Trinidad varieties apart that I grew. I do know however that after some point it just tastes like it's trying to kill me (e.g. Bhut Jolokia Chocolate). I was forbidden to grow that again.😄
@tbr Dang, these Bhut Jolokia look really dangerous! How many different plants do you have?
Right now we have at least 7 different cultivars of chili peppers, but we only know the names of three  The Carolinas are growing too and, even if they're small, they already look a little bit more wrinkled! @plants
@absinthe @plants
I also have a couple of "mystery" varieties. We just give them own names. 🙂
I think we had like at least 10-15 varieties 3 years ago, but since we've moved twice. Currently, I'm down to two plants. Aji Cristal and Fatalii, the only survivors.
The plan is to go back to a similar variety as I had on my balcony (see picture), now that we have enough space for greenhouses etc. Start seeds in December, transplant outside in April after the snow melts and temps permit. #gardening
@absinthe @plants You can know by testing 😂
Scorpion peppers are hot but can be managed, Carolina Reapers surely will reap your mouth 🌶️
