@astERISk wow! Thanks for the reply! π
I'm totally the same with wanting to play games to just escape into another world. It's definitely true that to some gamers it's all about numbers, xp rates, statistics, and trying to manipulate the game in any way to give them the best and fastest results. It's like a puzzle for them to work out. And that's chill. My boyfriend is like that. I know he gives me a joking side eye when he watches me play runescape or farcry or whatever. But he's not an asshole like a lot of people are. He understands that I just enjoy games in a different way.
I like to talk to every single npc and explore every little thing. That's why I can't enjoy Games Done Quick. I want my fucking money's worth and will soak up every single bit of content and really pretend I am that character. π I enjoy it my way and I don't understand how or why some "gamers" can look down on someone genuinely enjoying a game!
But then they faux bitch about how many people don't play games... Hm, maybe it's because your elitist culture scares people away! Maybe that's their actual game plan? Keep people away from gaming so they can continue to pretend they're *unique* true gaming nerds. Bitch about there being very few women into games whilst fostering a culture of toxic masculinity and degrading the women who do play. π€π
It is sweet that you have your wife play with and to ask about things! That sounds like the "right way" to play to me! ππ
Basically, people should be allowed to enjoy things their own damn way without this extreme competitiveness thrown in their face when they didn't even ask for it.
Also, sorry for rambling reply. π
