@Drake ahh, I see. Let me find a good video or smth to explain it. The tldr is "no," there are a bunch of Mastodon sites that can all talk to each other and be run by anyone.

@Drake Yeah it's really neat and has a lot of cool little nuances! Like people from different sites (called 'instances') all agree to different rules, so the culture varies wildly between them.

@Drake It's a real rabbit hole, one of the Internet's best kept secrets imo. It's definitely really hard to get into, especially if you're just expecting to replace your twitter presence. It's its own thing.

@Drake I mean, it's definitely not a 1 to 1 replacement. Lots of people use Twitter to follow the news, their favorite brands, meme accounts, etc and literally none of those things exist here. You won't find your favorite celebrity or irl friends here.
