I'm an introvert. A hard introvert. I did the research to pick a Mastodon instance one time, when I bailed from Twitter. One time. The idea was I wouldn't ever have to go through that search for a snowball in hell again just to restart the slow, agonizing process of developing trust in a community.

I'm not sure I want to try. I'm not sure social media *can* be anything other than toxic, even in its best possible expression. I was already starting to doubt after the recent meta.

@archer if anxiety about seeing Bad Stuff or being attacked for no good reason is your concern, I can't recommend awoo.space enough

rather than adding bad actors to block lists like most servers, they manually vet every single server they federate with to ensure compatible user policies, and mods are more than willing to step in and help with problems their users have

downside is you can't talk to everybody; fences work both ways
