mastodon.social account suspension

Dear friends,
Sadly, I have to let you know that my account on mastodon.social was suspended. So, I won't be able to get to you there anymore!
I have tried to contact @eugen but, so far, without any success!
I've explained the situation here: https://write.as/7y26skal6f4ecs95.md, in case you're interested to read about the issue.
I'll be around, here, on Friendica, and on Pleroma.
See you soon!
Take care.

@joaopinheiro
That's weird. You often posted about why there's so much hate in the world. Maybe one of those hate-filled individuals felt you were threatening their right to hate.

A Letter on Justice and Open Debate

July 7, 2020 The below letter will be appearing in the Letters section of the magazine’s October issue. We welcome responses at [email protected] Our cultural institutions are facing a moment of trial. Powerful protests for racial and social justice are leading to overdue demands for police reform, along with wider calls for greater equality and […]

It's extremely ironic that you get censored at the same time Hong Kong is in the first stages of being censored.

This current ultra-sensitivity is an unfortunate byproduct of Western liberal societies overcorrecting for certain shortcomings over the past decades. But this extremism isn't a long-term viable solution either. @Gargron needs to be more balanced.

@SlowRain
Thank you for your words. This is just crazy! It's something I simply can't understand! How can someone whom we admire do something like this, destroy somebody else's work without saying something first. Open Source and the Fediverse is based on trust. We entrust instance admin with part of our lives. I have a different opinion from Eugene about one issue, but I wasn't impolite with him, ever. I contributed to the project. I want aggressive nor offensive. Never! And now this!? And not even a single word!? Toots can be removed by admins, people can be warned and advised. But, in this case, that wasn't even possible because there's no base to sustain such decision!
@joaopinheiro @SlowRain I am really sorry to see this happening to you, João, and specially in the way it was done -- as a notice that a decision had been taken, which is not reversible, and deletes all the work a user has put into their account over all the time they have been there.

And no warning or discussion, just the notice that it's done. I received a similar notice recently too, from another admin of an instance I respected and had an account on. Went there to respectfully inquire about a silence affecting another instance (where I am a moderator), wrote a polite message, which got replied by their admin, and again replied politely by myself.

Next morning I realize my account had been deleted. Gone. 400 posts or so.

We got to keep in mind this could happen, and sadly there's a User Data export function, which will create a backup of all our posts in an instance. But -- there's no software at the moment which can make that data useful, readable, so that we could get back posts we valued and repost elsewhere if desired.

To do this to you when you have been a collaborator in the mastodon project itself, as a translator, without even a warning.

Sorry, João. Not a good day for you, sorry for the late reply as I have been online less than normal -- it's been too hot here this week.

Have a good night!
@Yann

It is also deeply unfair what happened to you.

As I said, this is dictatorial behaviour by some instance admins that we grown to admire and respect.

It is obvious that the instances belong to them but they invite us to their homes and send us away without a reason, only because there might be some differences of thought regarding this or that aspect! It's not polite!

People don't know how to talk anymore!
