I noticed that Jappix was missing in gitlab.com/lidia_p/fediversetr… .

@Goffi I don't know much about the world of XMPP microblogging, so you are the first person I think of who might have pointers on where to find more information about Jappix.

The way I understand it, it was very similar to Movim, and used several of the same protocols as Movim and SàT, is this accurate?

@clacke Jappix is abandoned for years. And yes it was using the same XMPP extensions than Movim and SàT (mainly XEP-0277 which is Atom over PubSub). The graphic you're linking is interesting, thought I'm not sure why Movim and SàT are stopped at 2011 while they are still both actively developed (I'm the main dev of the later).

@Goffi It doesn't show where things stopped, only where they started, but I can see how it might be misinterpreted.

The colorful blobs only interconnect software using the same protocols, they don't imply anything about lifetime. Nor do they show when software adopted a protocol, so the AP blob goes back to before AP existed. Movim was the latest new software to implement microblogging over XMPP, that's why the XMPP doesn't extend further.

People have been asking for other graphs, which would show lifetime and heritage like the Unix and GNU/Linux distro timeline projects do.
