2 nights ago I was confronted for working at an open access science publisher by someone insisting the author-pays model is in fact not open access, apparently because someone, anyone pays for it.

My friends, I take pride in the maturity it took to walk away from that conversation instead of burying the person under a mountain of facts they presumably had no interest in.

That said, I am also severely bummed out by the willingness to call out transgression without understanding absolute basics.
