mostly, I just don't find that stuff very interesting,

but also, lovecraft was a dipshit racist, so I don't have a lot of patience for his ideas if you're not at least using them in a way that will piss off other dipshit racists

@Alexis I was amused when Lovecraft showed up in a crossover fic flashback in which a character was an auror talked with figuring out if he'd stumbled across the existence of magic or was just a writer of weird stories. As the auror was aware of many of his issues and knew basically trolling him. "Ack, woman! Ack, not-lily-white-WASP! Ack! She's doing math on that scrap of paper! Double Ack! And why must this potential patron have brought me to a seafood place with a foreign chef!

@Alexis and the math bit... apparently one of the occasions on which he left school for a while was prompted by his first math lesson that involved the horrifying discovery that (iirc) factions were a thing that existed. (If it wasn't fractions it was something else that would show up around the same time).

@Anke @Alexis oh, speaking of geometry. "Non-Euclidian geometry," that common line people will pull out if trying to be Lovecraftian? It's simply geometry that's not on a perfectly flat plane. Such as the geometry of weird spherical surfaces like that strange place called Earth (one reviewer called that place, "mostly harmless," but I'd still advise caution as is reported to have humans on it).
