Pay by Fastag or 2x the cash is just arrogance of power. Shove technology, adoption, disruption, streamlining et al.. somewhere unseen.

Just to be clear. I am not opposing Fastag. It's a tecnological advancement that's necessary.

My irritation is to do with the fact, a form of punishment like 2x toll is levied for not buying is acceptable as a govt policy.

Remove cash lanes completely, understood. Don't extort

Got better clarity on the matter.

1. The 2x charges are for the vehicles without FasTag entering the fastag lane.
2. There is one lanes apparently called a "hybrid" lane or cash lane that charges the regular amount.

This is to discourage people from using cash on the FasTag lanes, thus, depriving the FastTag users the benefit of FasTag.

Now I am actually okay with the arrangement. I even don't know why cash users are allowed in the FasTag lanes to begin with.

@tecoholic The only way this could be prevented is if the boom barrier is at the start/entry point of the lane. Most tag readers affixed at a height suitable for long wheelbase vehicles fail to read tags for LCVs and others. Hence that workaround of having a human eyeball whether a tag is affixed. All that slows down the lane, whether one desires it or, not.
