The NCP-SS-INC combination is going to bat with a lot of perceptions requiring to be addressed. SS haven't done a spectacular job with BMC; NCP have been fickle and INC in recent times has been sulking. The ability of this combination to provide governance, justice and a response to "there is no alternative" is going to be key towards how the "strongman" bias is required to be addressed. If the alliance breaks apart on short term gains, well, we are back to interesting times.
The sooner we get to understand that the "hope" and "alternative" to an authoritarian system is citizenry, the less disappointed we'll be when "opposition" fails. For expecting the opposition to be the projection of our collective consciousness is asking too much. Even those politicians have been creatures of the system for far too long. They are invested, infested and utterly entrenched. Every single aspect of checks/balances is compromised. That's the real tragedy now.
