Feel free to use cross-posting in a way that helps Mastodon grow, i.e. copying posts from Mastodon to Twitter, but please avoid doing it the other way around, see our rules on that matter:

https://mastodon.social/about/more#cross-posting

Thank you for understanding!

@Gargron work on Toot with comment please

"I've made a deliberate choice against a quoting feature because it inevitably adds toxicity to people's behaviours. You are tempted to quote when you should be replying, and so you speak at your audience instead of with the person you are talking to. It becomes performative. Even when doing it for "good" like ridiculing awful comments, you are giving awful comments more eyeballs that way. No quote toots. Thank's"
.@Koshy @samarinamkhan @Gargron
No i differ..Quoting within a Platform is in fact very useful..
Many times one likes to Boost a Post along with comments that
further enriches the post before reaching a wider audience..your
followers & their followers..It becomes more informative &
interactive..The editor of the Original Post naturally welcomes enrichment & wider reach..Of course then he should also be
ready for positive criticism from a booster..
This is what Social Media is all about..Thanks
@Gargron no prob. I tried to in the past but the format from mastodon didnโ€™t load right on other platforms. Will try it again to see if it works better now.
@Gargron this is subtly genius because everybody will want to leave Twitter if everybody suddenly starts tweeting about piss, shit and cum (in that order)
@hannah now it makes sense. Shitposting was literal all this time...
@Gargron I now use birdsite mostly to promote Mastodon

@Gargron

won't they be intimidated by the quality of Mastodon posts in general?

@Gargron I follow the IndieWeb's POSSE principle: post on my own blog as the "source of truth", and cross-post over to all social platforms.
@Gargron
Agree with it.
We come here to escape from bird site posts.
Not having any desire to see bird site posts cross posted here too.
Thank you. ๐Ÿ™

@Gargron I face this conundrum.

I acknowledge that I am tech challenged. And I see a lot of my posts and RTs from Twitter featuring here. I don't want them to be.

What can I do to stop that? Is there a tutorial or someone who can walk me through as regards what to do?

@majchowdhury I think you need to change https://moa.party/ settings
Moa: Mastodon/Twitter/Instagram Crossposter

Link your Mastodon account to Twitter and Instagram

@Gargron Many thanks ๐Ÿ˜

I made some changes.

Let's hope they work.

@Gargron

And!

I thought I was tech challenged!!!

What do we do now?

@anivar @kushal @stux

@majchowdhury Just open up a web browser and type in the url of the instance where you created the account and login!

Or download any Mastodon application for Android or iOS and login from there with the right instance (server) url where you signed up!

@Gargron @anivar @kushal

Or reject the entire cult of world domination and "growth at any cost" and use fediverse software that puts you in control and lets you make your own rules. You can even share your posts with Mastodon - if you want. ;-)
@Gargron @stux as such when I retweeted @Gargron's post, it was only retooted to Mastodon, not on twitter, this when I already use cross-posting twidere. I see the point of bringing twitter content to mastodon, when we as person want to do the same. ๐Ÿ˜
@Gargron There is an option to mark an account as a bit in the settings. What is that for?
@Gargron Cross posting means ....
@Waheedsofi It's on the linked page
@Gargron Thanks will check there ....
@Gargron @stux noob question: how does one crosspost (short of manually copying and pasting)?
@Gargron
also very good to mention mastodon by name on twitter.
