Thread : Why I disagree with comparing Owasi with Modi

India has extreme influence of Savarnas in position of power Executive, Legislative, Judiciary & all Institutions. As long as oppressors remain in power, the oppressed never get justice. How I think this can be fixed is by more representation of marginalised in positions of power. When I vote for a candidate, I don’t want a secular candidate because that should be a given. For me, I want a Tamil woman to represent me ideally /1

@Deepsealioness There is no politician in India who talks more about Indian Constitution than Owaisi does. His every argument is based upon constitution.

Yesterday he showed his importance. He was probably the only one to call spade a spade. Thats why Muslims in Hyderabad strengthen his arms to raise voice in the parliament.
On the other hand, we know how modi asks for vote.

Whatever is happening in Kashmir is normal for any "occupied" territory. I support Kashmir's independence not just since August but since forever.
Our support for Kashmir is real, Pakistan's sympathy is for their own purposes.
Nobody made any mistake. We being here is our fate, You being wherever you are is your fate, and people went to Pakistan for their fate.

@Inertia @salm456 I agree with you on his take on Kashmir issue was wrong. I am not his supporter, I am just initiating this to say he gets more heat because he is Muslim while other political leaders get free pass including Arvind Kejriwal

@salm456 @Deepsealioness do check out the video of Mr. Owaisi arguing against the UAPA Amendment Bill in the Parliament recently. Really very well made points,backed by law and facts. I think he just gets a bad rep for two reasons. One of which is his younger brother. And the second is stereotype.

@salm456 In a Hyderabad Literary Fest, some years back, I remember Rajdeep Sardasai sharing his experience with Owaisi. According to him, Mr. Owaisi is knowledgeable and can speak on a variety of issues, but as media houses kept inviting him on a Hindu vs Muslim debate, he accepted his pigeonholed role reluctantly to stuck to it.

@souryabanerjee When Nehru asked Maulana Azad to contest from Rampur, Maulana refused because Rampur is Muslim Majority constituency and Maulana Azad wanted to be a leader for everyone, not just Muslims. But Nehru rejected his refusal and asked him to Contest from Rampur itself.

I hope you understand the reason why I told this story. No matter what he does, no matter how constitutionally right he is on most matters, but his arguments will always be viewed under the cover of his identity.

@salm456 @Deepsealioness Bhai, I'm no fan of Gobhi Shah combo. But talking of Owaisi as some great constitutional follower is a bit strong. Hum bhi Hyderabad ke hai bhai. Now that suits him so he does a good job of it. But so much of Hyd rioting & suppression of Muslim community's growth was also him. That too for decades!

@jvivekanand @Deepsealioness As far as rioting is concerned, I would only give you the latest example.
Yesterday a very shameless verdict came, Muslims have all the reasons to oppose it. And today there was a major Milad Un Nabi ﷺ procession throughout Hyderabad and not even a single communal incident took place.

If the verdict would have been against Hindus, and next day being Ram Navami/Hanuman Jayanti, can you say that it would have been so peaceful in any Hindu majority localities ?

@jvivekanand @Deepsealioness What his Party does as MP, MLA's is different issue altogether. The question is whether he could be compared to Modi whose only achievement is his bigotry.
