"Dear Provider, we want IPv6 to connect to some IPv6-only systems in our new datacenter."

"Dear customer, do you need an external ipv6 address for some services or only in your local network?"

*sigh*

@phessler That one is *spectacular*.

I can retort with “why do you want to split your /48 network and don’t like the automatic assignments from the router?”

Answer: “because, unlike you, I know what I’m doing”.

@cynicalsecurity tell them you are going to split them up in to /96s!

@phessler also, a different, rather large Tier 2 ISP: “This is the first IPv6 setup we do, I had to read up the Cisco manuals for it”.

I then had to explain “how to IPv6” to them… and their IPv6 routing still dies randomly.

@cynicalsecurity oh, ouch! that must bite.

we have some conslutting service using Colt as the provider, so in theory it'll work once they push the right buttons.

@phessler oh, I have several Johns with Colt local loops and they have been disastrous over the past 12 months. No idea of what is going on but their service has been going down the drain. Plus they now cold-call the clients of the ISP for which they local loop, bad mouth the ISP and try to win the business despite not having the capability to support the requirements (world-wide connectivity, for one thing).
@cynicalsecurity @phessler furst thing which came into my mind by reading it was the robin williams meme („What Year is it?!“)
