Funny to see VirtualBox banned from $WORK (because Oracle Bad) while Docker is allowed when: https://seclists.org/oss-sec/2019/q2/131

Because money is more important than security, so we ban Oracle products while allowing anyone to run vulnerable software on their PC.

Meanwhile, I am still trying to compile a better version of qemu on my Mac...

oss-sec: CVE-2018-15664: docker (all versions) is vulnerable to a symlink-race attack

@ParadeGrotesque

Let me count the ways thou art evil:

1.) Evil EllisonCo killed off Sun Microsystems brand - That was merely sacrilege.

2.) Evil EllisonCo tried to wrest successor of MaxDB, MySQL, from FOSS community - Spawned birth of MariaDB (Monty was already disillusioned with Sun's custodianship).

Slackware was first to adopt MariaDB as default install in distro, followed by its German fork SuSE shortly thereafter.

3.) Evil EllisonCo Killed OOo, Spawns LO by The Document Foundation.

@ParadeGrotesque

4.) #Java.... Well, perhaps IBM was too heavily vested in Java for the Evil EllisonCo to mess that up too much.

5.) #VirtualBox - I must say, that I am amazed, the Evil EllisonCo hasn't completely destroyed VB.

6.) Difficulties experienced by the #OIN wrt compliance by the Evil EllisonCo - they're in, they're out, they're not playing nice in the non-aggression patent sandbox.

7.) #Solaris - Woe is me.

#Evil_EllisonCo #Slackware #SuSE #Sun #MaxDB #MySQL #MariaDB #Bill_Joy

@tallship

Yup. The "Big O" is evil through and through.

I remember working for companies that were audited by Oracle. A thoroughly unpleasant experience, close to a Mafia shakedown.

"Nice infrastructure you got here. Shame if something was to happen to it, you know?"
