Just marked two of my least fav paintings as "not for sale". Will go over those two with markers and ink and have some FUN! *evil laughter*
You know what? I did it! I was so excited that I finally decided to go over some of my paintings I didn't like any more with markers I couldn't wait, so I went in! And now I LOOOOOVE them! I love them so much, I have to show you a sneek peek immediately! #mastoart #fineart #urbanabstraction
Thoughts are very welcome! ❤️
Also: I need more markers.
That was a predictable development.
Okay! Markers are on their way! I needed to buy a good red one for weeks now, and brown and piglet pink and ochre. Now that I found acrylic markers that actually *work*, I love working with them! #acrylics #markers #artsupplies
But you know what's the most annoying thing about working with acrylic markers? Even the good ones work best when they are used on a horizontal surface. Which makes it nearly impossible for me to film my process. Shame... #artistproblems
Now I want to go home and paint so baldy, but my markers won't arrive until the week-end, and I have loads of bread-winning work to do, too... *siiiiiiiiiiiiigh*

Gooosh, I can't get over how much I love painting with markers over acrylic! I'm so in love, I can't think about anything else...!

I think I'm ready for some new portrait projects! (Looking at you, @juni!) 💖

*keeps on swooning over marker aesthetics*

Nothing will stop me and my acrylic markers! Nothing!

Photos show 4 paintings with lots of scribbles on them, apparently made by markers. The paintings look as if there were graffity tags on them.

Those portraits look incredibly energetic with all those lines on them. :O

@TQ

@TQ It looks so dynamic! I hope I’ll have space for art in my new flat!
@TQ I used to have a copy stand, on which I mounted my camera pointing down. I just used it to make slides of my work, though. This was a LOOOOONG time ago when galleries only accepted slides (that is, physical slides on positive film with those white cardboard frames) for submissions. I sold the copy stand some years ago.
@ejbarnescomix Ah, right, I could do that... But I'm usually, eh, climbing on top of my paintings or leaning very heavily over them... Hm. But will give it some more thought!
@TQ the faces were there before the re-make happened weren't they?
@knittingsquirrel Yes! I painted the paintings before in a naturalistic fashion. I just wasn't happy with the style any more.
@TQ cool! i like it! how the two techniques combine! especially the blue on the leg in the picture above :)
@knittingsquirrel Yes, and that was a really bad one before I went in with markers, in my opinion! Here you can see a "before" if you're interested: https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-Sinner/1101076/4331117/view

@TQ That looks rad as hell!
@swordjaw Aw thank you so much! 💖
@TQ This is really cool! Were you hoping they would improve, or was this a pure happy accident?
@HerraBRE I was *sure* they would improve! I really disliked them before, so I went in with acrylic markers and acrylic ink. I've experimented with these media for the last months, and I've slowly developed my own style according to the things I like most about graffiti and tags. 😊
@TQ Nice to be right about such things! Developing your craft and style, great stuff. I like the outcome.
@HerraBRE And really, they were quite bad before according to my humble opinion, so nothing to lose, everything to gain! Like a blank page, but without the work! 😂
@TQ Being able to paint over your own canvasses is definitely more authentic than "updating" works you find in charity shops. But that seems like a legit resource for this kind of thing too, right?
@HerraBRE Might be, yes! Although information about the paint may not beavailable. With acrylic markers, I have to pick and choose the surface I paint on. They will stick to almost anything, but not on oil paint for example.

@TQ I'm no artist, but home DIY has taught me that all sorts of foundations / varnishes exist to cope with that sort of thing?

That reminds me, I should ping my tenant and ask how the bathroom is holding up - I repainted the bath tub and surroundings last week. 😁

@HerraBRE Haha, well. It always depends on how long it has to last! But in general - no acrylic over oil paint, ever. Just do a search on it. 😁

@TQ Yeah, taking a sander and a fresh bucket of paint to a peeling painting isn't exactly the experience art collectors are looking for.

Most of them anyway. 😜
