Anybody around who makes #zines? I'm on Ubuntu and looking at #Scribus. Ever use it?
@Cobalt Here. I use it on my linux box to create our quarterly church newsletter (24-32 pages each) and am very enthusiastic about it ;)

@Cobalt I haven't used it for zines, but the print files for my #glitchbook covers and the dot-grid inside pages were made with Scribus.

It is ... weird in parts but very mighty once you get used to it.

@Cobalt I think it was used for (earlier?) releases of the Lainzine, https://lainzine.neocities.org So you can definitely make very nice things with

@Cobalt
I did layout for one issue of our zine in scribus and it worked well.

It was kind of too much for me, though. I got lots of contributions in RTF and (unfortunately) docx formats, so I ended up switching to libreoffice to do my layout at 5.5x8.5, and then depending on my printer's built in booklet option for final formating.

@Cobalt I have used extensibly and I highly recommend. I'm using the the development version though 1.5.1 (the most stable version of these bleeding edge btanch, they are already onto the 1.5.4 but the official stable version is 1.4.7). In all honesty the features and the bug fixes outweigh some of the instability that might arrise. Nevertheless and if you are a fellow cartoonist you might want to give #Laidout a try (I never used it), it was created by a cartoonist/dev!
